Having excluded conventional sketching and drawing from MoNE's collection, this body of works is included because the individual pieces are as immediate and spontaneous as any other MoNE item, but represent a more conventional form of art practice: portraiture. I came upon these materials - paint charts picked up at a Benjamin Moore paint store; styrofoam packaging that caught my eye; paper towel rolls - and what I drew was usually dictated by the nature of the material itself. Things are driven into styrofoam because it's so easy to do, the material essentially demands it, paper towel rolls become scrolls, hot sauce became - what else - a saucy gal...
